Bourn Golf & Country Club, just outside Cambridge, were busy with their home-based golf challenge over the Easter weekend; so much so, all involved have raised well over £1,500.00 as a result!
To see how went about doing this, please watch the YouTube video, which one of the ladies from the club has kindly put together
The fundraising task set was to chip 10 consecutive ‘balls’ into a ‘container’ – whatever that container maybe! With £1 donated to the air ambulance for their local community, Magpas Air Ambulance.
Debbie Witherow, Ladies Captain at Bourn Golf & Country Club, said, “This charity is in urgent need of funds because large fundraising events have been cancelled. Due to COVID-19 Lockdown, we decided to be creative with our fundraising – hence this virtual challenge!”
Debbie goes on to say, “It was a great day and weekend (mainly because of the fantastic weather)! Between the Men and Ladies, we are proud to say that £1,513.00 has been raised so far!”
Emma Sanders, Community & Events Officer at Magpas Air Ambulance, explains “Debbie and her fellow members at Bourn Golf & Country Club have been fantastically inventive and really generous with such an impressive amount raised. We are hugely grateful.”
Emma finishes by adding, “We hope this event inspires other people to take on a virtual fundraising theme of their own, given these unprecedented times. This brilliant idea could be replicated in a back garden, anywhere, in Cambridgeshire or across our region; whether it’s golf orientated, speed walking focused, or even running motivated…whatever people decide to do; as a charity, we need their support now more than ever.”
We know this is a difficult time for everyone. Most of our fundraising has stopped but the Magpas medical team continue to work on the frontline 24/7. You can still help to keep us flying though; take on your own innovative virtual sporting challenge (like the one above) or support our cause by popping a £2 donation in our virtual collection bucket:

This is a difficult time for everyone. Our usual fundraising activity has stopped, but the Magpas medical team continue to work on the frontline, 24/7. As a charity, we need you now more than ever.
We’ve created a virtual donation bucket so the communities we serve can still help to keep us flying. If everyone gives a little and shares a lot, with you, we can continue to save lives. Thank you.
