Crowland, serious 3x car collision - Magpas Helimedix fly to scene

At approximately 4pm this evening (20th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Nick Scott, Paramedic Chris Hawkins and Doctor Simon Lewis) arrived in Crowland via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance - after a serious road traffic incident involving three cars.

The Magpas team assessed a man (in his 80’s) who suffered chest injuries. The Helimedix administered pain relief before flying the patient to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where on arrival the man was in a stable condition. Another man and a woman were also treated at the scene by an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew and an EMAS Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew; both patients were subsequently taken to Peterborough City Hospital by land ambulance. Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, a fourth person was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this time.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene and the patient and Helimedix to hospital was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Steve Hunwicks.

Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, Peterborough Fire & Rescue Service Crews, Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue Service Crews and the Police were also present.

At 4.55pm yesterday (19th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Sarah Hazleman and Paramedic Dan Read) arrived on the B1040 near St Ives via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW - following a road traffic incident where a car left the road and rolled into a ditch.

The Helimedix assessed four patients who had fortunately only suffered minor injuries. A female patient (in her 50’s) was subsequently taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, in a stable condition, by an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service Crews and Cambridgeshire Police were also on the scene.

At 11:28am on Saturday the 16th, Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Raluca Ionescu and Paramedic Simon Standen) arrived at a field near St Neots, in the Abbotsley area, via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW. A woman (in her 50’s) was involved in a potentially serious fall from the pushbike she was out riding.

The Magpas team assessed the patient who had suffered leg injuries (fortunately these didn’t turn out to be life-threatening). The Helimedix then dressed the wound, whilst working alongside EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews who were also at the scene. The woman was subsequently taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital by land ambulance in a stable condition.

A Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service Crew was also present.

At 12.00pm today (14th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Raluca Ionescu and Paramedic Dan Cody) arrived in Flitwick via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance, after there was a road traffic incident involving a car and a pedestrian.

The Helimedix assessed a female patient (in her 70’s) who had suffered a head injury. The patient was then taken in a stable condition to Bedford Hospital by an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Steve Hunwicks.

Fire and Rescue Services and the Police were also on the scene.

The Helimedix assessed the patient, working alongside an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew, before he was taken to Bedford Hospital in a stable condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Simon Standen.

At 12.40am this morning (13th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Raluca Ionescu and Paramedic Keir Rutherford) arrived in Chatteris via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW, after a car left the road and collided with a tree.

The Helimedix assessed a young man (in his teens) who had suffered head and body injuries. The team provided the patient with pain relief, before accompanying him to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious but stable condition.

Two other patients (a man and a woman) were also treated at the scene for minor injuries by an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew.

Fire and Rescue Services and the Police were also on the scene.

At 2.07pm on Saturday (9th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Maria Smith and Paramedic Simon Standen) arrived near Lincoln via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. A man (in his 20’s) was involved in a sporting incident - whilst playing squash - and lost consciousness.

The Helimedix assessed the patient and provided him with enhanced pain relief, whilst working alongside an East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew . The Magpas team then flew the man to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a stable condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene/ the Helimedix and the patient to hospital was: Pilot Andy Figg and Crew Member Steve Hunwicks.

At 2:15pm today (8th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Phil Morgan and Paramedic Ash Richardson) arrived in March town centre via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. A woman (in her 80’s) suffered a fall, resulting in a serious leg injury.

The Helimedix sedated the patient (providing specialist A&E care), before accompanying her to Hinchingbrooke Hospital by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a stable condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Pilot Andy Figg and Crew Member Adam Bright.

An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew and a Police Officer were also on the scene.

At 12:35pm this afternoon (7th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Ben Teasdale and Paramedic Dan Read) arrived at the A14 eastbound, near Hemingford Grey, via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance - after a road traffic incident involving a van which rolled onto its side.

The Magpas team assessed a man (in his 60’s) who was trapped inside the vehicle and had suffered a non-life threatening arm injury. The Helimedix worked alongside a Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service Crew and an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew to remove the patient safely out of the van. The man was then taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital via land ambulance in a stable condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Pilot Andy Figg and Crew Member Adam Bright.

An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Resilience Manager was first on the scene and Cambridgeshire Police were also present.

At 8:30am this morning (5th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Raluca Ionescu, Paramedic Alex Pearce and Paramedic Dan Cody) arrived at the A1 near Alconbury via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW - after a serious collision involving a van and lorry.

The Magpas team sedated a 30 year old man who was trapped inside the van. After providing the patient with specialist A&E care at the scene, the Helimedix then worked alongside Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Crews and EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews to get the man safely out of the vehicle. The Magpas team accompanied the patient in a land ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. On arrival at the hospital, the man was in a serious but stable condition.

An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew also assessed a woman (in her 20’s) who suffered minor injuries. This patient was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital via land ambulance in a stable condition.

Cambridgeshire Police were also present.

The Helimedix assessed the man who had suffered multiple body injuries. The team sedated the patient (providing specialist A&E care), before working alongside other emergency services to help safely remove the man from the vehicle. The Helimedix then accompanied the patient to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious but stable condition.

An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew, and Fire and Rescue Services were also on the scene.

At 4.40pm on the 22nd April, Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Tom Odbert and Paramedic Dan Read) arrived in a village near Bedford via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance, after a woman (in her 60's) had been thrown by a horse.

The Magpas team assessed the woman who fortunately only suffered minor injuries. The patient was given permission to leave the scene of the incident and was subsequently helped home by the Emergency Services.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Steve Crawford.

An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew were also on the scene.
