Nr Ampthill, man injured in motorbike incident - Magpas Air Ambulance flies to scene

At 12:50pm yesterday lunchtime (27th) Magpas Doctor Jon Barratt, Paramedic Ollie Robinson and Doctor Phil Morgan landed in a rural location east of Ampthill via the Magpas Air Ambulance. They had been called to treat a man who had been injured in a motorbike collision.

The Magpas enhanced medical team assessed the patient (in his 50’s) who had sustained serious leg and arm injuries before sedating him at the scene (providing him with A&E level care). They then accompanied the man via land ambulance to Bedford Hospital, where upon arrival he was in a very serious but stable condition.

The Magpas helicopter crew who flew the medical team were Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crewmember Steve Hunwicks.
An EEAST Ambulance Service paramedic crew and Bedfordshire Police were also in attendance.

Peterborough, man impaled on railings - Magpas Air Ambulance called to scene

At 1:26am in the early hours of Christmas Day morning (25th), Magpas Doctor Ed Barnard and Paramedic Alex Pearce arrived in central Peterborough, via a Magpas Air Ambulance rapid response BMW. They had been called out, after a man’s arm had been impaled on some metal railings.

The Magpas medical team gave the patient (in his 20’s) advanced pain relief and sedated him (providing him with A&E level care there and then). The Magpas team then worked closely with a Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service crew to remove the man safely from the railing. They then accompanied the patient in a land ambulance to Peterborough City Hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, the man was in a stable condition.

Cambridgeshire Police and EEAST Ambulance Service paramedic crews were also in attendance.

At 11:33am this morning (24th), Magpas Doctor Lee Soomaroo and Paramedic Ryan Warwick arrived at an airport in Luton via the Magpas Air Ambulance. They had been called out, after a woman suffered a 10-12ft fall onto tarmac.

The Magpas medical team assessed the patient (in her 20’s) who had suffered a head injury. They gave the woman a general anaesthetic at the scene (providing her with A&E level care there and then). The Magpas team then flew the woman to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where upon arrival she was in a very serious but stable condition.

The Magpas Air Ambulance helicopter crew who flew the Magpas medical team to the scene / the patient with the Magpas medical team to hospital; were Magpas Pilot Andy Figg and Crewmember Rob Davies.

At 2.53pm on Sunday afternoon (12th) Magpas Doctor Sophia De Maria and Paramedic Alex Pearce arrived at the B645 near St Neots, via the rapid response vehicle, to treat a teenager injured in a collision involving three vehicles.

The Magpas team assessed a young man, who had sustained serious head injuries. He was anaesthetised at the scene (providing him with A&E level care). The team then accompanied him by land ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital where he was in a serious but stable condition upon arrival.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance landed at the scene to treat a second man, who was also taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

At 5.36pm on Thursday evening (2nd), Magpas Doctor Peter Holden and Paramedic Chris Hawkins landed in Wisbech, via the Magpas air ambulance, to treat a man who had gone into cardiac arrest.

The Magpas medical team gave the patient (in his 50s) advanced life support to successfully resuscitate him. He was then anaesthetised (providing him with A&E level care at the scene) before being taken by land ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn.  The patient was in a stable condition upon arrival.
