A1 at Biggleswade, single car involved in serious collision: photo courtesy of Magpas Helimedix
On Sunday 30th November, Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Simon Lewis and Paramedic Simon Standen) flew to the A1, at Biggleswade, arriving at 11:41 via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. A single car had collided with a tree, leaving a man (in his 20’s) severely trapped inside the vehicle.
The Fire & Rescue and ambulance crew got the man safely out of the car. The Helimedix then anaesthetised the man and provided him with intensive, critical A&E care at the roadside, before flying the man to Addenbrooke’s Hospital (monitoring his condition all the way). On arrival at the hospital, the patient was in a serious but stable condition.
The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene / the patient and the Magpas Helimedix to the hospital was: Pilot Rob Pennell and Crew Member Steve Crawford
EEAST Ambulance Crews, Fire and Police were also present.
All the Emergency Services worked extremely well together
