Handelsbanken bowl us over for the fourth year running!

Handelsbanken bowl us over for the fourth year running!

Once again, the dedicated team at Handelsbanken in Cambridge decided to support Magpas Helimedix at their annual corporate bowling evening.

This is the 8th year they've invited businesses from around the city of Cambridge to join them for a really enjoyable night out, whilst supporting charitable organisations close to their hearts. As ever, their most recent event on 13th November was a great success with 160 solicitors, accountants and other Handelsbanken contacts and clients filling up the alleys. An impressive £1,750 was raised for Magpas on the night. This takes their grand fundraising total for us to over £6,770.00!

Jackie Hayden Corporate Manager at Handelsbanken explains, "We are very pleased to support this worthwhile charity. With the travelling we all do, none of us know if we may ever need the services of the Magpas specialist Doctors and Paramedics, many of whom volunteer their own time to work with this incredible organisation. This is a charity that is wholly reliant on donations to save lives. We sincerely encourage others to fundraise for Magpas Helimedix too, to ensure the vital services provided are not lost to us".

One night, towards the end of last year, Mum-to-be Theresa Usher from Manea was being driven to hospital by her husband after she started experiencing contractions. When the labour progressed faster than expected, husband Nick was left with no other choice but to pull the car into the nearest lay-by, which also happened to be the entrance to the Magpas Helimedix Operations Base gate! Magpas Helimedix, Doctor Alexandra Cross, Paramedic Simon Standen and Doctor Vijayasankar, drove the shortest distance on Magpas incident record to Mr and Mrs Usher at the gate, via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW. They then helped to bring the couple's new addition into the world, whilst working alongside a local midwife (who was on the phone) and an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew.
