Peterborough, woman kicked by horse - Magpas Air Ambulance treats & flies her to hospital

At 10:05am this morning (5th), Magpas Doctor Jono Ritson, Paramedic Chris Hawkins and Doctor Phil Morgan, flew to a field in the Peterborough area via the Magpas Air Ambulance. They were called to treat a woman who had been kicked by a horse.

The Magpas enhanced medical team assessed the patient (in her 60’s) who had sustained serious leg injuries. The team provided the woman with A&E level care at the scene, before airlifting her to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Upon arrival, the patient was in a stable condition.

The Magpas helicopter crew who flew the medical team and the patient were Pilot Andy Figg and Crewmember George Phillips.

An EEAST Ambulance Service paramedic crew was also in attendance.

At approximately 12:20pm this afternoon (3rd), Magpas Doctor Scott Knapp and Paramedic Dan Cody, alongside Magpas Doctor Phil Morgan flew to the A43, east of Corby, Northamptonshire. They travelled via the Magpas Air Ambulance and were called to treat a man injured in a collision between a van and a lorry.

The Magpas enhanced medical team assessed the patient (in his 20’s) who had sustained serious injuries. The team provided pain relief and sedated the man (providing A&E level care) to protect his injuries before airlifting him to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. The patient was in a serious but stable condition upon arrival.

The Magpas helicopter crew who flew the medical team were Pilot Paul Nolan and Crewmember Steve Hunwicks.

An EMAS Ambulance Service paramedic crew and Northamptonshire Police were also in attendance.

At 10.53pm last night (27th) Magpas Doctor Saad Jawaid and Paramedic Ollie Robinson arrived in Cambridge via the Magpas Air Ambulance rapid response vehicle. They had been called to treat a man who had sustained a limb injury whilst practising martial arts.

The Magpas enhanced medical team assessed the man (in his 30’s) who had sustained a leg injury. They sedated the patient at the scene (providing him with A&E level care) in order to protect his injuries. The team then accompanied the man to Addenbrooke’s hospital by land ambulance, he was in a stable condition upon arrival.

The Magpas enhanced medical team placed a woman into an induced coma at the scene (providing her with A&E level care), before accompanying her to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by land ambulance. Upon arrival at the hospital, the patient was in a serious but stable condition.

Magpas Air Ambulance was called to two separate incidents in Bedford on Saturday afternoon (25th) and in the early hours of this morning (26th) to give advanced care to two men with head injuries.

At 4.22pm on Saturday afternoon (25th) Magpas Doctors Steve Corry-Bass and Simon Lewis, and Paramedic Chris Hawkins, landed in Bedford via the Magpas Air Ambulance. They had been called by the EEAST Ambulance Service to treat a man (in his 20s) who had sustained a head injury. They placed the man into an induced coma at the scene (providing him with A&E level care) before airlifting him to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. He was in a stable condition upon arrival at hospital.

The Magpas enhanced medical team was again called to Bedford at 4.57am on Sunday morning (26th). Magpas Doctor Rupert Hurry and Paramedic Steve Chambers arrived by rapid response vehicle to treat a man (in his 60s) who had sustained a head injury following a fall. They placed the man into an induced coma before accompanying him by land ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he was in a critical condition upon arrival.

EEAST Ambulance Service paramedic crews were in attendance at both incidents.

Cambridgeshire, high winds cause 3x road incidents - Magpas Air Ambulance called to the scenes

Windy conditions across Cambridgeshire today (23rd) caused three road traffic incidents involving a double decker bus, vans and lorries - all requiring the assistance of the Magpas Air Ambulance enhanced medical team.

Arriving by rapid response vehicle at around 11am this morning, Magpas Doctor Charlotte Haldane and Paramedics Dan Cody and Alex Pearce had been called to a van driver who had sustained minor injuries on the A1198 near Papworth Everard, when his van collided with a fallen tree. The patient did not require further medical treatment by the Magpas team.

The Magpas enhanced medical team was then immediately called out to a second incident, at around midday, involving a double decker bus which had overturned (due to the wind) in Wisbech. Working with paramedics from the EEAST Ambulance Service, the Magpas doctor and paramedics assessed 11 people, all of whom had fortunately sustained only minor injuries.

The Magpas enhanced medical team was subsequently called at around 2.15pm to a third collision on the A141, near March. Two lorries and a van had collided as a result of high winds, leaving one lorry driver (a man in his 40s) trapped inside the vehicle with minor injuries. The driver of the other lorry (a man) and the two occupants of the van (a man and a woman) all thankfully sustained minor injuries.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, EEAST Ambulance Service paramedic crews and Cambridgeshire Police were also in attendance.

Bedford, car vs ditch - Magpas Air Ambulance performs specialist procedure at scene

At 9:46 last night (2nd), Magpas Doctor Saad Jawaid and Paramedic Ollie Robinson arrived in Bedford via a Magpas Air Ambulance rapid response vehicle. They had been called after a car left the road and ended up in a ditch - where a man was found in cardiac arrest.

When the Magpas enhanced medical team arrived, an EEAST Ambulance Service paramedic crew had successfully resuscitated the patient (in his 70’s). The Magpas medical team then performed a road side surgical procedure, providing the man with enhanced A&E level care, after he went into a second cardiac arrest. The Magpas doctor and paramedic then accompanied the patient to Bedford Hospital, in a land ambulance, where upon arrival the man was in critical condition.

A Magpas Air Ambulance spokesperson said “This incident highlights how we can bring vital hospital level care to seriously ill patients when time is of the essence, 24/7 in the East of England and beyond.”

Bedfordshire police were also in attendance.
