A1 Peterborough, 2x car collision - Magpas Helimedix called to scene

At 9:30am on the 3rd April, Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Chris Adcock and Paramedic Phil Almond) arrived at the A1 near Peterborough via a Magpas Helimedix Rapid Response BMW. Two cars were involved in a road traffic incident, leaving a man (in his 30’s) trapped inside one of the vehicles.

The Magpas team provided pain relief for the patient who suffered non-life-threatening body injuries. The Helimedix then worked alongside an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew and a Fire & Rescue Service Crew to get the man safely out of the car, before the patient was taken to Peterborough City Hospital by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital, the man was in a stable condition.

The Police were also present.

At 10:20pm on the 1st April, Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Sarah Hazleman and Paramedic Ash Richardson) arrived in the Fotheringhay area, via Magpas Helimedix Rapid Response BMW. A car was involved in a road traffic incident, leaving a man (in his 60’s) trapped inside the vehicle in a ditch.

A Fire & Rescue Service Crew initially helped to get the patient safely out of the car. The Magpas team assessed the man who fortunately suffered minor injuries. The patient was given permission to leave the scene of the incident and was subsequently helped home by the Emergency Services.

An EMAS Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew and the Police were also present.

At 3:50pm on the 1st April, Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Tom Odbert and Paramedic Dan Cody) arrived at the A17, in the Holbeach area, via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance - after two cars were involved in a road traffic collision.

An EMAS Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew gave pain relief to a woman (in her 70’s) who suffered back and chest pain and was trapped inside one of the vehicles. The Helimedix then worked alongside the ambulance crew and fire & rescue service crews to remove the patient safely from one of the cars. The woman was then taken to Pilgrim Hospital by land ambulance, where on arrival she was in a stable condition.

The Magpas team also assessed a woman (in her 20’s), who fortunately didn’t suffer any injuries. This patient was given permission to leave the scene of the incident and go home.

The Police were also present. The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Steve Hunwicks.

At 11.10am on the 31st March, Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Nick Scott and Paramedic Ashley Richardson) arrived at the A1 Southbound near RAF Whittering, via the Magpas Helimedix Rapid Response BMW - after a lorry and a car collided.

The Helimedix assessed a male (in his 40's), whilst working alongside the Fire & Rescue Service Crew and EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews to remove the patient safely from the vehicle. The patient was taken to Peterborough City Hospital by land ambulance in a stable condition.

The Helimedix assessed a man (in his 60's) who had suffered smoke inhalation. The patient was then taken by land ambulance to Addenbrooke's Hospital. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a stable condition.

At just before 12pm on the 29th March, Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Anne Booth and Paramedic Chris Hawkins) flew to Wisbech via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance - after a man suffered a fall from height.

The Helimedix team assessed the patient and then flew him to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn. On arrival he was in a stable condition. 

An EEAST Ambulance Service Crew was also on the scene.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Steve Hunwicks.

The Helimedix team landed on top of the multi-story car park at Queensgate Shopping Centre. The Magpas Team assessed a woman (in her 20's) before the patient was taken by land ambulance to Peterborough City Hospital. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a stable condition.

The Helimedix worked alongside other Emergency Services to remove a man safely from a car, before administering pain relief to the patient. The patient was then taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, in a stable condition, by land ambulance.

The Fire Service and the Police were also present.

The Helimedix team sedated the patient, providing him with specialist A&E level care. They then accompanied the patient to Addenbrooke's Hospital via land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital his condition was serious but stable.

At 12:08pm yesterday (25th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Sarah Hazleman and Paramedic Chris Hawkins) arrived in Bedford via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. A woman (in her 40’s) suffered a head injury, following a collision between a car and a bicycle.

The Helimedix anaesthetised the patient, providing her with specialist A&E level care at the roadside. The Magpas team then flew the woman to Addenbrooke’s Hospital (monitoring her all the way there), where on arrival she was in a potentially serious condition.

EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews and the Police were also present.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene / the patient and the Helimedix to hospital was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Steve Crawford.

At 12:45pm yesterday (22nd), the Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Raluca Ionescu and Paramedic Chris Hawkins) arrived at a playing field in Biggleswade via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance - after a young man in his late teens suffered a serious leg injury.

The Helimedix sedated the patient, providing A&E level care, before he was taken to Bedford Hospital in a land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a stable condition.

An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew was also on the scene.

At 2:43pm on 20th March, Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Nathan Howes and Paramedic Keir Rutherford) arrived in Leighton Buzzard via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. A lorry and a car were involved in a serious road traffic incident, leaving the occupants of the car trapped inside.

The Magpas Helimedix team worked alongside Fire & Rescue Service Crews, EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews and a HART Crew to remove the patients from inside the vehicle. The Magpas team assessed a woman (in her 60’s) who suffered head injuries, before she was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in a land ambulance. The Helimedix also assessed a second woman (in her 20’s) who suffered a head injury, before she too was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital by land ambulance. The Magpas team assessed a third woman (in her 30’s) who suffered chest injuries and flew her to John Radcliffe Hospital, where on arrival she was in a stable condition.

Herts Air Ambulance, a South Central Ambulance Paramedic Crew and the Police were also present.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene / the patient and the Helimedix to hospital was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member George Phillips.

At 1.25pm today (19th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Ben Teasdale and Paramedic Paul Sallis) arrived in Peterborough via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance, after a man (in his 30’s) suffered a fall from an attic onto the floor below.

Whilst working alongside an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew, the Magpas Helimedix team assessed the patient who suffered serious lower leg injuries. They then worked together to safely remove the man from the building he was in.

The patient was then taken to Peterborough City Hospital by land ambulance in a stable condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Simon Amos.

The Helimedix assessed the patient and provided enhanced A&E care. The Magpas team worked alongside a Fire and Rescue Service Crew and St John’s Ambulance to remove the man safely from the first floor of the building he was in.

The Helimedix then accompanied the patient to Bedford Hospital in a land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a stable condition.

At 4.20pm yesterday (Sunday 8th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Sarah Hazleman, Paramedic Simon Standen and Dr Rod Mackenzie) arrived in Mildenhall via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. A man (in his 50’s) had suffered head injuries when he fell 10 - 15 feet, after a motocross bike collided with a platform he was standing on.

The Magpas team provided the man with specialist care, before flying the patient to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious but stable condition.

At 7.57pm last night (5th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Nick Scott and Paramedic Keir Rutherford) arrived in South Bedford via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW. A male (in his 20’s) had suffered serious injuries to his back.

The Magpas team assessed the patient and administered pain relief, whilst working alongside an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew. The Helimedix then accompanied the man, by land ambulance, to Addenbrooke’s hospital. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious but stable condition.
