Bedford, bicycle & car collision - Magpas Helimedix fly to female patient

At 12:08pm yesterday (25th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Sarah Hazleman and Paramedic Chris Hawkins) arrived in Bedford via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. A woman (in her 40’s) suffered a head injury, following a collision between a car and a bicycle.

The Helimedix anaesthetised the patient, providing her with specialist A&E level care at the roadside. The Magpas team then flew the woman to Addenbrooke’s Hospital (monitoring her all the way there), where on arrival she was in a potentially serious condition.

EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews and the Police were also present.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene / the patient and the Helimedix to hospital was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Steve Crawford.

At 12:45pm yesterday (22nd), the Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Raluca Ionescu and Paramedic Chris Hawkins) arrived at a playing field in Biggleswade via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance - after a young man in his late teens suffered a serious leg injury.

The Helimedix sedated the patient, providing A&E level care, before he was taken to Bedford Hospital in a land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a stable condition.

An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew was also on the scene.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Steve Hunwicks.

Leighton Buzzard, serious lorry and car incident - Magpas Helimedix fly to scene

At 2:43pm on 20th March, Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Nathan Howes and Paramedic Keir Rutherford) arrived in Leighton Buzzard via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. A lorry and a car were involved in a serious road traffic incident, leaving the occupants of the car trapped inside.

The Magpas Helimedix team worked alongside Fire & Rescue Service Crews, EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews and a HART Crew to remove the patients from inside the vehicle. The Magpas team assessed a woman (in her 60’s) who suffered head injuries, before she was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in a land ambulance. The Helimedix also assessed a second woman (in her 20’s) who suffered a head injury, before she too was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital by land ambulance. The Magpas team assessed a third woman (in her 30’s) who suffered chest injuries and flew her to John Radcliffe Hospital, where on arrival she was in a stable condition.

Herts Air Ambulance, a South Central Ambulance Paramedic Crew and the Police were also present.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene / the patient and the Helimedix to hospital was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member George Phillips.

Peterborough man suffers attic fall - Magpas Helimedix fly to him

At 1.25pm today (19th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Ben Teasdale and Paramedic Paul Sallis) arrived in Peterborough via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance, after a man (in his 30’s) suffered a fall from an attic onto the floor below.

Whilst working alongside an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew, the Magpas Helimedix team assessed the patient who suffered serious lower leg injuries. They then worked together to safely remove the man from the building he was in.

The patient was then taken to Peterborough City Hospital by land ambulance in a stable condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Simon Amos.

At 3.11pm yesterday (17th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Nathan Howes and Paramedic Simon Standen) arrived in Bedford via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW – after a man (in his 50’s) lost consciousness.

The Helimedix assessed the patient and provided enhanced A&E care. The Magpas team worked alongside a Fire and Rescue Service Crew and St John’s Ambulance to remove the man safely from the first floor of the building he was in.

The Helimedix then accompanied the patient to Bedford Hospital in a land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a stable condition.

An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew was also present. The Magpas Helimedix would especially like to thank the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service Crew and the St John’s Ambulance Crew for their great team work.

The Helimedix provided specialist A&E care for the patient, before accompanying the man in a land ambulance to Addenbrooke’s hospital (monitoring his condition all the way). On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious but stable condition.

At 4.20pm yesterday (Sunday 8th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Sarah Hazleman, Paramedic Simon Standen and Dr Rod Mackenzie) arrived in Mildenhall via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. A man (in his 50’s) had suffered head injuries when he fell 10 - 15 feet, after a motocross bike collided with a platform he was standing on.

The Helimedix assessed the patient, whilst working alongside an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew who were also at the scene. The Magpas team provided the man with specialist care, before flying the patient to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious but stable condition.

At 11:48am this morning (26th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Nick Scott and Paramedic Mark Glover) arrived in Peterborough near the Elton area, via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. A car had collided with a hedge and a road sign, before rolling several times and landing upside down on its roof.

The Magpas team assessed a man (in his 40’s) who suffered serious back injuries. The Helimedix administered pain relief and kept the patient warm, before working alongside EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews, a Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service Crew and the Police to get the man safely out of the car.

The Magpas team then accompanied the man to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by land ambulance, where on arrival he was in a stable condition.

The Helimedix then flew the woman to Lincolnshire Hospital (monitoring her condition all the way). On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious but stable condition.

At 10:30am this morning (22nd), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Phil Morgan and Paramedic Dan Phillips) arrived between Junction 7 and 8 of the M1 (southbound), near Hemel Hempstead, via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. Two cars were involved in a serious collision.

The Magpas team assessed a man (in his 60’s) who suffered life-threatening injuries. The Helimedix anesthetised the patient (providing him with specialist A&E care at the scene), before flying him to St George’s Hospital (monitoring the man’s condition all the way). On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a critical condition.

Two other patients (a man and a woman) were also treated at the scene by EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews. Both patients were subsequently taken to Watford Hospital by land ambulance.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene / the patient with the Helimedix to hospital was: Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member George Phillips.

Three EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews, one HART Crew, three Fire & Rescue Service Crews and the Police were also present.

The Magpas team assessed the patient, who suffered injuries to her upper body. The Helimedix worked alongside a HART Crew and an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew to remove the woman safely from of the car and administering pain relief.

The patient was then taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in a stable condition by a land ambulance.

An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew initially provided advanced life support for the patient. The Magpas team then anaesthetised the woman (providing her with specialist A&E care), before accompanying her to Lister Hospital in a land ambulance (monitoring her condition all the way). On arrival at the hospital, the patient was in a serious but stable condition.
 
An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Officer and Rapid Response Paramedic were also present. All the Emergency Services worked well together.
