At 7.53pm last night (11th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Lee Soomaroo and Paramedic Chris Hawkins) arrived in Peterborough via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW, following a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

The Helimedix assessed a man (in his 40’s) who had suffered head and chest injuries. The Magpas team anaesthetised the patient (providing specialist A&E care on the scene), before accompanying him to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the man was in a serious but stable condition.

EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews and the Police were also on the scene.

At 7.00pm on Friday evening (9th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Steve Corry-Bass and Paramedic Simon Standen) arrived in Bedfordshire via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW, where they were requested to meet with an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew who were on route to hospital with a patient.

The Magpas team assessed a young woman (in her teens), who had suffered a head injury whilst playing rugby. The Helimedix then anaesthetised the patient (providing her with specialist A&E care), before accompanying her to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious but stable condition.

At 11.05pm last night (7th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Zoe Smeed and Paramedic Alex Pearce) arrived to the east of Rugby via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW, following a road traffic incident where a car collided with a tree, leaving a man (in his 30’s) trapped inside the vehicle.

The Helimedix assessed the patient who had suffered arm and leg injuries. The Magpas team sedated the man (providing specialist A&E care at the scene), before working alongside Fire and Rescue Services to safely remove him from the car. The Helimedix then accompanied the patient to University Hospital Coventry by land ambulance, where on arrival he was in a stable condition.

East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews were also on the scene.

The Helimedix assessed the patient and provided her with enhanced pain relief. The Magpas team then flew the woman to Lincoln County Hospital, where on arrival she was in a serious but stable condition.

At 5.16am this morning (2nd) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Lee Soomaroo and Paramedic Ollie Robinson) arrived on the A141 near Wyton via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW, following a road traffic incident involving a car which left the road and rolled into a ditch, ending up on its roof.

The Helimedix assessed a woman (in her 50’s) who was suffering from neck pain. The Magpas team provided the patient with pain relief, before she was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, in a stable condition, by an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew. The Helimedix also assessed a second patient, a man (in his 50’s) who had suffered chest pain, and provided him with pain relief. He too was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital by an EEAST Ambulance Crew, in a stable condition.

EEAST Ambulance Service treated a third patient on the scene.

The Police were also present.

The Magpas team provided the patient with advanced pain relief (providing specialist A&E care at the scene), before accompanying him to Peterborough City Hospital by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a stable condition.

The Magpas team assessed a second patient, a man (in his 20’s), who had fortunately not suffered any serious injuries. The patient was then allowed to leave the scene of the incident.

Two EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews provided life support and resuscitated the patient, before the Helimedix anaesthetised the man (providing him with critical A&E level care there and then). The Magpas team then accompanied the man to Papworth Hospital by land ambulance, where on arrival he was in a serious but stable condition.

At 7:45pm last night (19th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Zoe Smeed and Paramedic Dan Cody) arrived at a location near Abbots Ripton via a Magpas Rapid Response BMW. Two cars were involved in a serious road traffic incident. Both vehicles left the road and ended up in a nearby field - leaving five people trapped inside the cars.

The Helimedix worked alongside Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Crews, EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews and a HART Crew to remove the patients safely from the vehicles. The Magpas team assessed a woman (in her 50’s) who suffered chest injuries. A team from East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) arrived at the scene by rapid response car and continued to treat this patient, before accompanying her to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition by land ambulance. Two people also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated by the Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews.

Sadly, despite all the best efforts of the medical teams, two people were pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this time.

Cambridgeshire Police were also present.

At 8:15am this morning (19th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Dave Leverton and Paramedic Chris Hawkins) arrived at the A5 near Dunstable via a Magpas Rapid Response BMW. A car and a motorbike had collided - leaving a man (in his 40's) with multiple serious injuries.

The Helimedix sedated and anaesthetised the patient at the roadside (providing him with critical A&E level care). The Magpas team then accompanied the man in a land ambulance to Luton Hospital, before taking him straight onto Addenbrooke's Hospital (monitoring his condition all the way). On arrival at Addenbrooke's, the patient was in a critical condition.

An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew, an EEAST Ambulance Critical Care Paramedic, a Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service Crew and the Police were also present.

Fire and Rescue Services worked to safely remove the woman from the car. The Magpas team then assessed the patient who had suffered minor upper body injuries. An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew subsequently took the woman to Bedford Hospital in a stable condition.
