A14 Kettering, lorry vs 4x cars - Magpas called to scene

At 6:30pm last night, (19th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Andy Lindsay and Paramedic Dan Cody, together with Doctor Maria Smith) arrived at the A14 near Kettering via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW - following a road traffic collision involving four cars and a lorry, leaving a man (in his 40’s) severely trapped inside one of the vehicles with head and arm injuries.

The Magpas team worked alongside a Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service Crew and EMAS Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews to remove the patient safely from the car. The Magpas Doctors and Paramedic administered pain relief for the patient, before accompanying him in a land ambulance to Kettering Hospital. On arrival at the hospital, the man was in a stable condition.

Five other patients were also assessed at the scene of this incident, fortunately none of them suffered serious injuries.

Northamptonshire Police were also present. The Magpas Team would like to thank the rest of the emergency services for their excellent team work.

At 3.45pm today (19th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Andy Lindsay and Paramedic Dan Cody, alongside Doctor Maria Smith) arrived to the west of Chatteris via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW, following a road traffic collision involving a car and a bus.

The Helimedix assessed a man (in his 30’s) who had fortunately only suffered a minor head injury. The Magpas team put measures into place to protect the patient’s injury, before he was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, in a stable condition, by an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew.

Fire and Rescue Services and the Police were also on the scene.

At 2.15pm yesterday (18th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Zoe Smeed and Paramedic Dan Read, along with Doctor Maria Smith) arrived near Oundle via the Magpas Air Ambulance, following a road traffic collision involving two cars.

The Helimedix assessed a woman (in her 50’s) who had suffered upper body injuries. The Magpas team provided the patient with pain relief, before she was taken to Peterborough City Hospital, in a stable condition, by an East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew.

The Magpas team assessed three other patients at the scene for minor injuries, before they were also taken to Peterborough City Hospital by the ambulance service.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Pilot Clive Knott and Crew Member George Phillips.

The Police were also present.

Nr Ely, car rolls into ditch - Magpas called to scene

At 3:05am in the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday 18th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Sarah McNeilly and Paramedic Ollie Robinson) arrived in the Ely area via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW - following a road traffic incident involving a car which had left the road and ended up in a ditch. A woman (in her 20’s) was trapped inside the vehicle.

The patient was removed safely from the car by a Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service Crew and a HART team. The Magpas Team administered enhanced pain relief for the patient who had suffered head injuries (providing her with A&E level care at the scene).

The Helimedix then accompanied the patient in a land ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where on arrival she was in a stable condition.

EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews and the Police were also on the scene.

The Helimedix assessed the patient who had endured a head injury. The man was then taken to Peterborough City Hospital, in a stable condition, by an East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew.

A Community First Responder was also on the scene.

At 8:14pm in Saturday night (17th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Sarah McNeilly and Paramedic Ollie Robinson) arrived in Corby via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW - following a road traffic incident involving two pedestrians and two cars, leaving two people seriously injured.

The Magpas Team assessed a man (in his 20’s) who suffered injuries to his body. They provided the patient with enhanced A&E level care at the scene, before accompanying him in a land ambulance to

Coventry Hospital. On arrival at the hospital, the patient was in a serious but stable condition.

EMAS Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews, Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service Crews and the Police were also present.

The Magpas team assessed the man (in his late teens) and provided him with advanced pain relief. The Helimedix then flew the patient to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where on arrival he was in a serious but stable condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene/ the Helimedix and the patient to hospital was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Simon Amos.

The Magpas team worked alongside an East Anglian Air Ambulance crew to treat a seriously ill patient.

The Helimedix also worked with EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews to assess a patient who had suffered minor injuries. 4 other patients were treated by the ambulance service at the scene, none of whom had suffered major injuries.

HART, Fire and Rescue Services and the Police were also on the scene. Magpas would like to thank the rest of the emergency services for their excellent team work.

The Helimedix assessed a woman (in her 50’s) who was suffering from neck pain. The Magpas team provided the patient with pain relief, before she was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, in a stable condition, by an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew. The Helimedix also assessed a second patient, a man (in his 50’s) who had suffered chest pain, and provided him with pain relief. He too was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital by an EEAST Ambulance Crew, in a stable condition.

EEAST Ambulance Service treated a third patient on the scene.
