Nr Biggleswade, road traffic collision – Magpas called to scene

At 11.22pm last night (6th), Magpas Doctor Zoe Smeed and Paramedic Simon Standen arrived south of Biggleswade via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW – following a road traffic collision involving a car which ended up in a ditch.

The Magpas team assessed a man (in his late teens) who had suffered serious head injuries. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic anaesthetised the patient (providing him with specialist A&E care on the scene), before accompanying him to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the man was in a serious but stable condition.

EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews, Fire and Rescue Services, and the Police were also on the scene.

At 2.15pm yesterday (6th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Rupert Hurry and Paramedic Dan Phillips) arrived in the Stamford area via the Magpas Air Ambulance – following a road traffic incident where a car had left the road and rolled into a ditch, ending up on its roof.

The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic assessed a woman (in her 40’s) who had suffered a neck injury. The patient was then taken to hospital, in a stable condition, by an East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Pilot Andy Figg and Crew Member George Phillips.

Fire and Rescue Services, and the Police were also present.

At 3.11am on Sunday morning (6th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Sarah McNeilly and Paramedic Simon Standen) arrived on the M1 near Northampton via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW - following a road traffic incident which resulted in a car rolling over, leaving a man (in his 50’s) trapped inside.

East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews and Fire and Rescue Services worked together to safely remove the man from the vehicle. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic then assessed the patient who had suffered multiple injuries. The Magpas team provided the man with pain relief, before accompanying him to Northampton General Hospital by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious but stable condition.

The Police were also on the scene.

St Neots, man injured by falling 1.5 tonnes of flour - Magpas called to scene

At 6:05am this morning (3rd), Magpas Doctor Dave Leverton and Paramedic Chris Hawkins arrived in the St Neots area via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW - after a palette, with 1.5 tonnes of flour on it, fell on a man (in his 50's).

The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic worked alongside an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew to assess the patient. They administered pain relief and anti-sickness drugs for the man who suffered injuries to his lower body. The patient was then taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital by land ambulance in a stable condition.

Magpas would like to thank the ambulance crew for their excellent teamwork.

M1 nr Northampton, van & lorry collision - Magpas called to scene

At 6am yesterday morning (Tuesday 2nd), Magpas Doctor Dave Leverton and Paramedic Ollie Robinson arrived between J16 and J15 of the M1 near Northampton, via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW. A road traffic incident had taken place, involving a van and a lorry, leaving a man (in his 30's) trapped.

The Emergency Services worked together to remove the patient safely from the vehicle he was in. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic assessed the man who suffered a leg injury and worked alongside an EMAS Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew to splint his limb. The patient was taken to Northampton hospital by land ambulance in a stable condition.

A Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service Crew and Northamptonshire Police were also present.

The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic assessed a man who suffered a wrist and hand injury. The patient was subsequently taken to hospital by land ambulance in a stable condition.

This morning at 10:17am, Magpas Doctor Sarah McNeilly and Paramedic Simon Standen landed in the Newmarket area via the Magpas Air Ambulance - following a road traffic incident involving a lorry and a car.

The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic provided an elderly man with advanced life support and successfully resuscitated the patient, whilst working alongside an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew at the scene. The Magpas team then accompanied the man to Addenbrooke's Hospital in land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital, the patient was in a critical condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Magpas Doctor and Paramedic to the scene was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Lee Kennedy.
Fire & Rescue Services Crews and the Police were also present.

The Magpas team assessed the three patients who had fortunately not suffered any serious injuries. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic then worked alongside Fire and Rescue Services to safely remove the men from the car. East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews subsequently took the patients to Kettering Hospital, in stable conditions, for further assessment.

Another man was assessed for minor injuries, before being given permission to leave the scene of the incident.

The Police were also present.
