Nr Chatteris, motocross incident – Magpas Air Ambulance flies to scene

At 2.12pm on Saturday (28th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Lee Soomaroo and Paramedic Chris Hawkins) arrived to the north of Chatteris via the Magpas Air Ambulance. A girl (in her teens) had been injured in a motocross incident.

The Magpas team assessed the patient who had suffered a suspected pelvic injury. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic then worked alongside an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew to provide the girl with pain relief. The patient was subsequently taken to Peterborough City Hospital, in a stable condition, by the ambulance service.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Pilot Andy Figg and Crew Member George Phillips.

At 3.40am this morning (27th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Andy Lindsay and Paramedic Dan Read) arrived on the M1 near Hemel Hempstead via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW - following a road traffic incident which resulted in a car rolling over.

The Magpas team assessed a man (in his 20’s) who had suffered serious injuries. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic worked alongside an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew to provide the patient with pain relief, before accompanying him to St Mary’s Hospital in London by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious condition.

The Police, and Fire and Rescue Services were also on the scene.

At 7.48pm last night (26th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Andy Lindsay and Paramedic Dan Read) arrived to the south of Bedford via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW. A man (in his 30’s) had suffered a serious leg injury whilst rollerskating.

The Magpas team assessed the patient and sedated him (providing him with specialist A&E care on the scene). The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic then accompanied the man to Luton and Dunstable Hospital by land ambulance, where on arrival he was in a stable condition.

At 1.15pm this afternoon (25th) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Sarah McNeilly and Paramedic Alex Pearce) arrived in the Wisbech area via the Magpas Air Ambulance – after a man (believed to be in his 50’s) had gone into cardiac arrest.

The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic provided the patient with advanced life support at the scene. The Magpas team then accompanied the man to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a critical condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Steve Hunwicks.

EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews and the Police were also present.

At 6.29pm yesterday evening (22nd) Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Lee Soomaroo and Paramedic Dan Read) arrived on the A14 near Thrapston via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW - following a road traffic incident where a car had left the road and rolled into a ditch, ending up on its roof and leaving three men trapped inside.

The Magpas team assessed the three patients who had fortunately not suffered any serious injuries. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic then worked alongside Fire and Rescue Services to safely remove the men from the car. East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews subsequently took the patients to Kettering Hospital, in stable conditions, for further assessment.

Another man was assessed for minor injuries, before being given permission to leave the scene of the incident.

The Police were also present.

At 12.44pm on Friday 20th, Magpas Doctor Lee Soomaroo and Magpas Paramedic Chris Hawkins landed in grassed area within a housing estate in Peterborough via the Magpas Air Ambulance - after a woman (in her 60’s) went into cardiac arrest.

EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews provided life support and successfully resuscitated the patient, before the Magpas Doctor and Paramedic anaesthetised the woman (providing her with critical A&E level care there and then). The Magpas team then accompanied the patient to Peterborough City Hospital by land ambulance, where on arrival the woman was in a serious condition.

The Magpas Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was: Pilot Andy Figg and Crew Member Andy Craigie.

The man was then taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in a land ambulance for further treatment. On arrival at the hospital, the patient was in a stable condition.
