At 12.47pm yesterday (10th), Magpas Doctor Sarah McNeilly and Paramedic Ollie Robinson landed south of Sleaford via the Magpas Air Ambulance – after a girl (in her teens) had suffered a fall from a horse.

The Magpas team assessed the patient who had sustained injuries to her upper body. The girl was then taken to the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, in a stable condition, by an East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew.

The Helicopter team who flew the Magpas Doctor and Paramedic to the scene was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Lee Kennedy.

Stamford, car rolls into ditch – Magpas Air Ambulance flies to scene

At 10.59am yesterday (10th), Magpas Doctor Sarah McNeilly and Paramedic Ollie Robinson landed in the Stamford area via the Magpas Air Ambulance – following a road traffic incident where a car had left the road and rolled into a ditch, leaving a man trapped inside the vehicle.

The Magpas team worked alongside Fire and Rescue Services and East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews to safely remove the man from the car. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic assessed the patient who had fortunately suffered only minor injuries. The man was then taken, in a stable condition, to Peterborough City Hospital by an East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew.

The Helicopter team who flew the Magpas Doctor and Paramedic to the scene was: Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Lee Kennedy.

The Police were also present.

The Magpas team assessed a man (in his 40’s) who had sustained upper body injuries. The patient was subsequently taken to University Hospital Coventry, in a stable condition, by an East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew.

The Magpas team assessed the patient who had sustained back injuries. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic then provided the man with pain relief, before accompanying him by land ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Magpas Doctor and Paramedic to the scene was: Pilot Andy Figg and Crew Member George Phillips.

An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew were also present.

The Magpas team worked alongside a SARS Critical Care Paramedic and the ambulance service to assess the patient who had sustained head injuries. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic then accompanied the man, by land ambulance, to West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a stable condition.

The Magpas team worked alongside Fire and Rescue Services and EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews to help safely remove the man from underneath the vehicle. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic assessed the patient who had sustained multiple injuries, before providing him with pain relief. The man was then taken to Bedford Hospital, in a stable condition, by an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew.

At 12.15pm today (24th), Magpas Doctor Leigh Bissett and Paramedic Simon Standen landed in Peterborough via the Magpas Air Ambulance – following a road traffic incident where a bus collided with a building.

The Magpas team assessed two women on the scene who had suffered multiple injuries. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic provided the patients with pain relief, before they were taken to Peterborough City Hospital, in stable conditions, by an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew.

The Magpas team also assessed 11 other patients on the scene who had all suffered minor injuries.

The Helicopter team who flew the Magpas Doctor and Paramedic to the scene was: Pilot Matt Tacon and Crew Member Lee Kennedy.   

Fire and Rescue Services, the Police, and HART were also present.

At 1.42pm yesterday (23rd), Magpas Doctor Andy Lindsay, Doctor Simon Lewis and Paramedic Dan Cody landed to the north of St Ives via the Magpas Air Ambulance – after a man (in his 70’s) had gone into cardiac arrest.

When the Magpas team arrived, bystanders were already performing CPR on the man. The Magpas Doctors and Paramedic then anaesthetised the patient (providing him with specialist A&E level care), before flying him to Lister Hospital. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a critical condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Magpas Doctors and Paramedic to the scene/ the patient and Magpas team to the hospital was: Pilot Matt Tacon and Crew Member Lee Kennedy.

EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews were also on the scene.

The Magpas team assessed the patient who had suffered serious leg injuries. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic then worked alongside Fire and Rescue Services and EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews to safely remove the man from the vehicle. The Magpas team sedated the patient (providing him with specialist A&E care on the scene), before accompanying him to Luton and Dunstable Hospital by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious but stable condition.

At 6.04am this morning (9th), Magpas Doctor Zoe Smeed and Paramedic Ollie Robinson arrived south of Oakham via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW – following a serious road traffic collision involving a lorry and a car.

The Magpas team assessed a man (in his teens) who had suffered a head injury. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic sedated the patient (providing him with specialist A&E level care), before accompanying him to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the man was in a serious but stable condition.

Three other patients were also assessed at the scene by the Magpas team. Two were taken to hospital by East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews, and one patient was allowed to go home.

Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, one patient was also pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. Our thoughts are with their friends and family at this time.

An EMICS doctor, Fire and Rescue Services, and the Police were also present.
