Whittlesey woman goes into cardiac arrest – Magpas Helimedix called out
At 1:32pm yesterday afternoon (27th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Nathan Howes and Paramedic Dan Read) rendezvoused with an EEAST Ambulance Paramedic Crew, on route from Whittlesey to hospital. A woman (in her 60’s) had gone into cardiac arrest and was successfully resuscitated by the Ambulance Crew.
The Ambulance Crew then requested the assistance of the Helimedix, after the patient’s condition deteriorated. The Magpas team anesthetised the woman (providing her with specialist A&E critical care), before they accompanied the patient to Papworth Hospital by land ambulance, alongside the crew. On arrival at the hospital, the woman was in critical but stable condition.
A EEAST Ambulance Critical Care Paramedic, an EEAST Ambulance Rapid Response Paramedic and an EEAST Ambulance Duty Officer were also present. All the Emergency Services worked extremely well together.
