Welwyn, van driver goes into cardiac arrest – Magpas Air Ambulance flies to the scene

At 4.28pm on Thursday afternoon (26th), Magpas Doctor Dave Leverton and Paramedic Dan Read landed in Welwyn, via the Magpas air ambulance, to treat a man who had gone into cardiac arrest while at the wheel of a van.

The Magpas medical team gave the patient advanced life support and medications (providing him with A&E level care at the scene) to successfully resuscitate him. He was then flown to the Lister Hospital, Stevenage, where he was in a serious condition upon arrival.

The helicopter crew who flew the medical team and patient were Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crewmember Lee Kennedy.

An EEAST Ambulance Service paramedic crew and Hertfordshire Police were also in attendance.
