Peterborough, man in skydiving incident – Magpas Helimedix fly to him
At 12:24pm this afternoon (15th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Tom Odbert and Paramedic Dan Read), arrived at an airfield in the Peterborough area via the Magpas Air Ambulance – after a man (in his 30’s) was involved in a free fall / parachute incident.
The Magpas team assessed the patient who suffered serious head, arm and leg injuries. The Helimedix anaesthetised the man (providing him with specialist trauma care on the scene), whilst working alongside an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew. The Magpas team then flew the patient to Addenbrooke’s Hospital (monitoring him all the way). On arrival at the hospital, the man was in a serious but stable condition.
The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene / the patient and Helimedix to the hospital was: Pilot Jim Polwarth and Crew Member George Phillips.
All the Emergency Services worked extremely well together.
This is all the information we have at present.
