Nr Oakham, serious car and lorry collision – Magpas called to scene
At 6.04am this morning (9th), Magpas Doctor Zoe Smeed and Paramedic Ollie Robinson arrived south of Oakham via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW – following a serious road traffic collision involving a lorry and a car.
The Magpas team assessed a man (in his teens) who had suffered a head injury. The Magpas Doctor and Paramedic sedated the patient (providing him with specialist A&E level care), before accompanying him to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham by land ambulance. On arrival at the hospital the man was in a serious but stable condition.
Three other patients were also assessed at the scene by the Magpas team. Two were taken to hospital by East Midlands Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews, and one patient was allowed to go home.
Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, one patient was also pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. Our thoughts are with their friends and family at this time.
An EMICS doctor, Fire and Rescue Services, and the Police were also present.
