M1, Hemel Hempstead 2x car collision – Magpas Helimedix fly to scene

At 10:30am this morning (22nd), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Phil Morgan and Paramedic Dan Phillips) arrived between Junction 7 and 8 of the M1 (southbound), near Hemel Hempstead, via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. Two cars were involved in a serious collision.

The Magpas team assessed a man (in his 60’s) who suffered life-threatening injuries. The Helimedix anesthetised the patient (providing him with specialist A&E care at the scene), before flying him to St George’s Hospital (monitoring the man’s condition all the way). On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a critical condition.

Two other patients (a man and a woman) were also treated at the scene by EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews. Both patients were subsequently taken to Watford Hospital by land ambulance.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene / the patient with the Helimedix to hospital was: Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member George Phillips.

Three EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews, one HART Crew, three Fire & Rescue Service Crews and the Police were also present.

This is all the information we have.
