Bedfordshire man flown to Addenbrooke’s hospital by Magpas Helimedix

Yesterday afternoon (20th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Nathan Howes and Paramedic Mark Glover) flew to a village in Central Bedfordshire (just off the M1), via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. They arrived at 1:20pm – after two cars were involved in a head on road traffic collision.

The Magpas team assessed a man (in his 40’s) who suffered serious injuries to his lower body. The Helimedix administered enhanced pain relief and gave the man critical A&E level care, whilst working alongside an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew who were also at the scene. The Magpas team then flew the patient to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where on arrival he was in a serious but stable condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to Bedfordshire and then to Addenbrooke’s with the patient was: Pilot Jim Polwarth and Crew Member Adam Bright.

A Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Crew, the Police and an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Officer were also present. All the Emergency Services worked extremely well together.

This is all the information we have.
