B656 near Hitchin, man seriously injured in single vehicle collision – Magpas Air Ambulance flies to the scene

At 5.40pm yesterday evening (17th), Magpas Doctor Andy Lindsay and Paramedic Dan Read landed beside the B656 south of Hitchin, via the Magpas Air Ambulance. They were called to treat a driver injured in a collision.

The Magpas medical team assessed a man (in his 30’s) who had sustained significant head injuries. They anaesthetised him at the scene (giving him A&E level care) before airlifting him to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

The man was in a serious but stable condition upon arrival at hospital.

The helicopter crew who flew the medical team and patient were Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crewmember Rob Davies.

EEAST Ambulance Service, Hertfordshire Police and Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance.
