At 1:48pm this afternoon (8th), Magpas Doctor Steve Cory-Bass, Paramedic Dan Cody and Doctor Simon Lewis landed just south of the A6 near Bedford, via the Magpas Air Ambulance. They had been called out to a car that had left the road and collided with a tree.
The Magpas medical team assessed a woman (in her late teens) who had sustained a serious head injury. They worked alongside a Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue team and an EEAST Ambulance Service paramedic crew to move the patient safely out of the vehicle. The Magpas doctors and paramedic then anesthetised the young woman at the scene (giving her A&E level care), before air lifting her to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. The patient was in a serious but stable condition upon arrival at hospital.
The Magpas team also assessed a man (in his late teens) who suffered minor injuries.
The helicopter crew who flew the medical team and patient were Pilot Andy Figg and Crewmember Rob Davies.
Bedfordshire Police were also in attendance.
