A47 Nr Tilney All Saints, van vs lorry – Magpas Air Ambulance performs specialist procedure at scene

At 9:58am yesterday morning (28th) Magpas Doctor Scott Castell and Paramedic Alex Pearce landed at the A47 near Tilney All Saints. They had been called to treat a man who had been seriously injured in a collision between a van and a lorry.

The Magpas enhanced medical team assessed the patient (in his 50’s) who had sustained serious head injuries. They anaesthetised the patient and performed an advanced surgical procedure at the roadside, providing him with A&E level care there and then. They then airlifted the patient to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge where he was in a critical condition upon arrival.

The helicopter crew who flew the medical team and patient were Pilot Wayne Thomas and Crewmember Rob Davies.

An EEAST Ambulance Service paramedic crew, Norfolk Police and Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance.
