A1, Alconbury serious van & lorry collision – Magpas Helimedix called to scene
At 8:30am this morning (5th), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Raluca Ionescu, Paramedic Alex Pearce and Paramedic Dan Cody) arrived at the A1 near Alconbury via the Magpas Rapid Response BMW – after a serious collision involving a van and lorry.
The Magpas team sedated a 30 year old man who was trapped inside the van. After providing the patient with specialist A&E care at the scene, the Helimedix then worked alongside Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Crews and EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crews to get the man safely out of the vehicle. The Magpas team accompanied the patient in a land ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. On arrival at the hospital, the man was in a serious but stable condition.
An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew also assessed a woman (in her 20’s) who suffered minor injuries. This patient was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital via land ambulance in a stable condition.
Cambridgeshire Police were also present.
