CamCab celebrate 10 year success whilst supporting lifesavers

In just ten years, local company CamCab has become one of the top 30 most profitable taxi companies in the country, recently signing a deal to become part of the national network of Addison Lee, one of London's largest private hire companies. CamCab's high growth is no accident: it has been achieved by a combination of close attention to detail, high-quality training and using the latest technology to provide the very best and safest customer experience. The company takes its environmental responsibilities seriously too, running only low-emission vehicles and using recycled water in the Green Clean car wash.

Whilst growing a successful business is important to him, founder and managing director Rowhi Nemer also places great importance on giving back to the community. Magpas, which brings specialist A&E care by land and air to patients in life threatening emergencies in the Eastern region and beyond, is one of a number of local causes that have benefitted from CamCab's generosity.

Rowhi was so impressed with the vital service Magpas delivers, he set up a complimentary CamCab taxi account for the Magpas Helimedix team to use when they find themselves stranded at Addenbrooke's Hospital, needing to get back to base after treating patients.

Tickets for the dinner are priced at £60 each and can be purchased at www.camcabcharitydinner.org.uk where you can also see the full list of items to be auctioned.

If you would like to donate an item to the auction please contact the organisers at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Why not march for Magpas?

Why not march for Magpas?

The 17th Annual Pathfinder March will be on Saturday 20th June. Why not take part for Magpas Helimedix and get your friends and family to sponsor you. It’ll also be a wonderful opportunity to meet members of the armed forces who are based around the county.

Each year the Pathfinder March takes place in memory of the RAF’s elite WW2 Pathfinder Force, by creating a gruelling 46 mile march around Cambridgeshire.

The march starts at RAF Wyton and loops around the four main airbases of the Pathfinder Force: RAF Graveley, RAF Oakington, RAF Warboys, and ending up again at RAF Wyton.

If the 46 mile march seems too much, you can always take part as a relay team.

To enter in the march, please visit www.pathfindermarch.co.uk, or contact Mr Garton at RAF Wyton on 01480 52451 Ext 4495.  Cost of entry is £18 per person, which will include a commemorative Pathfinder March t-shirt (performance quality), a medal for completing the March, and a certificate for participation.

Please contact the Magpas Fundraising Team for your sponsorship form, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 01480 371060 (Option 2), and help us to save lives as you walk.

23rd ANNUAL LITTLE DOWNHAM BYGONE & ORGAN EXTRAVAGANZA

23rd ANNUAL LITTLE DOWNHAM BYGONE & ORGAN EXTRAVAGANZA

Photo caption: Magpas Helimedix volunteer Paramedic Simon Standen receiving the fundraising cheque from last year's Bygones and Organs event.

The 23rd annual Little Downham's Bygones and Organs Extravaganza will take place on 28 March 2015 in aid of Magpas Lifesavers, the charity that provides emergency medical care to those with life threatening injuries.

The event, founded by Trevor and Linda Brown, will take place in Little Downham Village Hall on 28th March from 13:00 – 17:30. Every year this fantastic event attracts people from far and wide, coming together to show off their musical organs and to display treasured collectables.

Trevor Brown said, "There will be lots of organs present, plus bygones, models, vintage cars and tractors. We are hoping that this year will be our most successful yet and we have set ourselves a target of raising £2,000. As always we are very proud to be supporting Magpas. Their lifesavers do a wonderful job and deserve the support of everyone across the region, and we will keep organising this event for as long as we can."

Debbie Florence, Head of Fundraising, said, "Mr and Mrs Brown and all their fellow organisers are such dedicated Magpas supporters, they work so hard every year leading up to and on the day of the event. Bygones and Organs have raised an amazing amount for Magpas over the years and we can't thank everyone enough for their continued support and we wish them a successful day."

This year will see Bygones and Organs Extravaganza's biggest ever raffle, with prizes kindly being donated by both the people and businesses within the community. Entry fee is £2.50 for adults and £2.00 for children and senior citizens. Refreshments will be available.

Contact Trevor and Linda Brown: 01353 778830 for more information.

Oakington couple switch on spectacular Christmas lights for 26th year!

Oakington couple switch on spectacular Christmas lights for 26th year!

Thanks to one dedicated Cambridgeshire couple, thousands of Christmas lights are once again twinkling in Oakington this Christmas season. Alan and Megan Milton have raised an incredible £25,900 for Magpas over the last 25 years - and yet again, they have decked the inside and outside of their house in Coles Lane, with almost endless festive lights and decorations.

The official switch on took place at the beginning of December and ever since, visitors have been able to enjoy big Christmas trees and reindeers sparkling in the night sky, alongside tens of thousands of LED lights in the trees and around the house. Each time a donation is made, between 3.40pm and 10pm, the display lights up.

This will carry on until New Year's Day, with all funds raised going to Magpas Helimedix. Mr Milton, who's 80 years old, works all year round to maintain his collection of festive lights and says it takes six weeks to put the festive show together. The display gives the community a lot of pleasure and never fails to attract visitors on a daily basis.

He says, "People who used to come here as children have now grown up and bring their own children to see the lights". He goes on to say, "There's lots of interest in the lead up to the first big switch on, with lots of kids wanting to see what's been added to the display. A lot of old folks like them as well".

Mr Milton explains, "We never close our curtains. Then we can see all the different faces light up when the display is switched on. People come from far and wide to look at them, not just from Oakington." He finishes by saying, "I don't know how long I will be able to carry on doing this, but I will try for as long as I can. It keeps me occupied, gives a lot of people a great deal of pleasure and raises money for a wonderful, lifesaving cause."

Deborah Florence, Magpas Fundraising Manager, explains: "Mr and Mrs Milton have been supporting Magpas for many years now and we really can't thank them enough. They do an amazing job every year and the lights and decorations outside and inside their house just get better and better".
