Wyboston stock car racing incident – Magpas Helimedix fly to scene……16th September, 2012……

At 3:38pm this afternoon (16th September), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Lorraine Greasley and Paramedic Simon Standen) arrived in Wyboston, at a motorsport event, via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. They were called, after a stock car had overturned and a man (in his 60’s) was trapped inside.

The patient suffered serious head and chest injuries and was unconscious. The Helimedix worked alongside a Red Cross team to get the man safely out of the vehicle, before anaesthetising him (to protect his breathing) and providing him with A&E level care. They then flew the man to Addenbrooke’s Major Trauma Centre, monitoring his condition all the way. On arrival at the hospital, he was in a critical condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Magpas team to the scene and to hospital was: Pilot Bob Lowis and Pilot George Phillips.

An EEAST Ambulance Crew was also present.
