Local Mums Launch Lifesaver Appeal!
Two mothers whose children have been saved by Magpas have launched an appeal calling on mums across the region to raise money for the local charity.

Jane Hawes from Marshland St James and Judy Burland from Little Paxton, know only too well the difference the Magpas team on the Air Ambulance and police helicopter make in Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire.

Bootscooterz Line Up for Magpas!
A local line-dancing club has raised £1,200 for Magpas, the local emergency medical charity.

Debbie Florence (back left) and everyone at Bootscooterz with the cheque for £1,200. Bootscooterz in Godmanchester recently held their Annual Charity Line Dance at Alconbury memorial Hall. This year’s theme was `Sparkle and Smile’.

Yesteryear Road Run - 2009
The Cottenham Yesteryear Road Run is a spectacular Procession of Vintage and Classic Vehicles, Tractors and Motorcycles plus a static display on Cottenham village green.

Marshalls Play their Parts!
Marshalls Parts have donated more than £800 to Magpas, the Emergency Medical Charity.
The team at the centre on Newmarket Road, raised the money by holding a raffle. Everyone brought in their own prizes and then they sold the tickets to staff and customers.

Willingham Winter Ball
The second Winter Ball in aid of the Willingham Magpas Community First responder Group will be on Saturday 31st January.

The Black tie evening will include a dinner and a disco. There will also be a harpist and a raffle will raise funds for the local lifesaving group.

Young Choristers Sing Praise of Lifesavers
The Imps Choristers at Ely Cathedral were visited by some Magpas lifesavers recently during a rehearsal for the Christmas Concert that will raise thousands of pounds for the charity.

Two of the Magpas lifesavers who visited are to be awarded top life-saving honours for bringing a Soham woman back from the brink of death.

Shock Donation for Magpas!
Stagecoach has given local emergency medical charity Magpas an early Christmas present by presenting one of their Community First Responder Groups with an automatic defibrillator.

The defibrillator automatically reads the patient’s heart and knows when to shock in cases of cardiac arrest.

Don't Send a Card... Save a Life!
Local lifesaving charity, Magpas is calling on people and businesses across the region to take part in the Card Amnesty this Christmas.

The idea is that a donation is made to the charity instead of sending out Christmas Cards. Magpas is hoping lots of local businesses will join in and help them save lives in the process.

First Birthday For Local Lifesavers!
Ely’s Magpas Community First Responders recently celebrated their first year anniversary at the Ambulance station in Ely

During their first year the volunteers, who make up the Ely group, gave 5,795 hours of their time and attended more than 115 patients, delivering emergency medical care.

Top Jump Jockey Supports Magpas
On Monday 25th August, Magpas held its first ever Racing Funday at Huntingdon Racecourse and, prior to the event, the charity received words of support from top jump jockey, Graham Lee.

Graham knows only too well just how important Magpas’ lifesaving skills are after he was saved by a Magpas doctor and paramedic following a fall from his horse at Huntingdon Racecourse last February.

Emergency Medical Charities plan to Merge
Following high level talks between Cambridgeshire-based emergency medical charity Magpas and the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA), the two organisations have agreed to plan a merger in order to create the most advanced emergency care service in the UK.

Both organisations provide a vital life-saving service across the region and have been sharing resources and expertise in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire since September 2007.

Yesteryear Road Run hits £100K!
This year’s Yesteryear Road Run has achieved the incredible milestone of breaking through the £100,000 barrier in funds raised for Magpas!

The organisers recently presented the charity with a cheque for £13,000 – the amount raised from the event that took place in April. This takes the total raised over the past 15 years well over £100k.

Split Whiskers Raise £1,300 for Magpas!
Local band, Split Whiskers, have raised £1,300 for local lifesaving charity, Magpas.

The band, which plays a mixture of blues and gypsy jazz, held a gig at Pidley Village Social Club recently. Former Magpas patient and supporter, Nick Bennett visited the organisers at the Social Club this week to collect the cheque and thank the organisers in person.

Local MP Supports Lifesavers
Local MP Jonathan Djanogly recently visited Magpas’ Emergency Medical Team to see how they operate alongside the police and the East Anglian Air Ambulance helicopters.

On Friday, Mr Djanogly visited the team to find out more about their work and the partnership they have with the other organisations.
