At 2:12pm this afternoon (8th September), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor Lorraine Greasley and Volunteer Paramedic Simon Standen) arrived at Kennett near Newmarket, via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance, after a motorcycle collided with a road sign at high speed. (Please see the attached incident photo).
A man (in his 20’s) suffered serious head and limb injuries. The Magpas team anaesthetised the patient and provided A&E level care to protect his brain, before accompanying him to Addenbrooke’s Major Trauma Centre. On arrival at the hospital, the patient was in a serious condition.
The Helicopter team who flew the Magpas team to the scene was: Pilot Richard Boswell and Air Observer Steve Hunwicks.
An EEAST Ambulance Crew also attended the scene, everyone worked well together.
