Melbourn man collapses – Magpas Helimedix fly to scene……16th September, 2012……

At 11:12am yesterday morning (15th September), Magpas Helimedix (Doctor James French and Paramedic Simon Standen) arrived at a residential address in Melbourn near Cambridge, via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance. An EEAST Ambulance Crew requested advanced medical support, after a man (in his 80’s) collapsed, was unconscious and difficult to revive.

The Magpas team anaesthetised the patient at the scene and implemented measures to protect his brain. They then accompanied him Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in a Land Ambulance, for further investigation. On arrival at the hospital, the man was in a critical condition.

The Helicopter team who flew the Magpas team to the scene was: Pilot Bob Lowis and Air Observer George Phillips.
