Governance

Clinical governance relates to quality, accountability, responsibility, safety and excellence - All of which are fundamental to Magpas’ organisational culture and philosophy.

Central to good clinical governance is strong clinical leadership and robust clinical processes and standard operating procedures. The other components can be grouped into:

  • Staffing (selection, training and continuous professional development, clinical supervision and advice)
  • Systems (audit, risk management and dealing with serious untoward incidents and clinical indemnity arrangements).

Magpas continues to endeavoured to:

  • Improve the delivery of its services and the clinical outcomes for patients;
  • listen to the people it serves;
  • Provide opportunity for continuous personal and professional development;
  • Value education, training and research;
  • Analyse and reflect on all of its operational and clinical activity and be open about the strengths and weaknesses of its services;
  • Nurture a culture where blame is the exception rather than the rule, learning from errors is the norm and new approaches are freely shared and willingly received.

Together these elements are aimed at securing safe services and high clinical outcomes
