And they’re off; Newmarket trainers take to the commentary position for Magpas!

On Saturday, 19th September, the first day of the inaugural Betfair Newmarket Open Weekend, racegoers will be treated to exclusive on course commentary for all seven races. A handful of Newmarket based trainers have agreed to commit to learning the art of commentating all in aid of the beneficiaries of the Open Weekend; Magpas - The Emergency Medical Charity, The National Horseracing Museum and Racing Welfare.

Raising funds for Magpas will be Sir Michael Stoute, one of the trainers for Her Majesty The Queen, is set to be ahead of the field having previously spent three years commentating in his home country, Barbados. Joining Sir Michael will be recent Classic winning trainer Hugo Palmer.

Hugo Palmer, resident trainer at Kremlin Cottage Stables and trainee commentator, said;

"I am delighted to see that the Open Day has evolved into the Betfair Newmarket Open Weekend. The weekend is a wonderful opportunity for Newmarket, the Home of Horseracing, to showcase the fantastic facilities that are available here.

"I have never commentated on live racing before but I'm sure we will see some healthy rivalry on the day and I am looking forward to the challenge."

These trainers may be masters of the turf but do know that calling a race will be by no means an easy task. Each trainer will undergo rigorous training and will receive some of the very best advice on offer from industry professionals in a bid to try and ensure a flawless commentating performance for their allocated race.

In just ten years, local company CamCab has become one of the top 30 most profitable taxi companies in the country, recently signing a deal to become part of the national network of Addison Lee, one of London's largest private hire companies. CamCab's high growth is no accident: it has been achieved by a combination of close attention to detail, high-quality training and using the latest technology to provide the very best and safest customer experience. The company takes its environmental responsibilities seriously too, running only low-emission vehicles and using recycled water in the Green Clean car wash.

Whilst growing a successful business is important to him, founder and managing director Rowhi Nemer also places great importance on giving back to the community. Magpas, which brings specialist A&E care by land and air to patients in life threatening emergencies in the Eastern region and beyond, is one of a number of local causes that have benefitted from CamCab's generosity.

Rowhi was so impressed with the vital service Magpas delivers, he set up a complimentary CamCab taxi account for the Magpas Helimedix team to use when they find themselves stranded at Addenbrooke's Hospital, needing to get back to base after treating patients.

Tickets for the dinner are priced at £60 each and can be purchased at www.camcabcharitydinner.org.uk where you can also see the full list of items to be auctioned.

If you would like to donate an item to the auction please contact the organisers at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
